One of two plates Mucha designed for this distinguished series, depicting heroines of antiquity. Salome is a sensuous image in which the dancer is shown wearing an ornate belt and diaphanous attire. She is not depicted carrying the head of John the Baptist, but rather in the throes of the dance that gave Herod such great pleasure.
